Target: Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Prime Minister of Denmark
Goal: Ban the brutal industry of fur farming in Denmark
Denmark continues to practice fur farming in its country even though it has been banned in many other countries for being too cruel to animals. In Denmark, 14 million minks are killed each year for their fur. This animal cruelty is no longer necessary for our survival and must come to an end.
The Netherlands, Croatia, Austria, and the U.K. have all banned fur farming in their countries. Norway and Sweden are also in the process of banning fur farms because of their cruelty to innocent animals. We are beyond the point where we need to slaughter animals and skin them for our survival.
According to PETA, the production of fur results in pollution, climate change, and water pollution. Nitrates, phosphates, and feces are running off the fur farms with rainwater or seeping into local water supplies. In Denmark, over 8,000lbs of ammonia is released into the air each year.
Investigations into Danish fur farms revealed animals living in horrifying conditions. The minks are forced into tightly enclosed spaces and attack each other out of aggression. The investigators found many minks with untreated lacerations all over their bodies.
By signing the petition below you will help urge the Prime Minister of Denmark, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, to ban the horrid practice of fur farming in her country.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt,
Because of its cruelty to animals and the destruction to the local environment, fur farming must be banned in Denmark. Join your European neighbors by ending this mistreatment of animals. There is no point in killing innocent animals for clothing anymore.
Your country kills 14 million minks in fur farms each year. The runoff from their bio-waste interacting with rainwater ends up in your rivers and seeps into your aquifers. Your people and these animals deserve better than this.
Investigations have shown that the animals in these fur farms live in horrid living conditions. Animal rights organizations like PETA have found minks living in terribly close quarters with each other. High levels of stress lead to violence among the animals that viciously bite and claw their neighbors.
Demonstrate to the world that your country is above such practices of animal suffering and wholesale slaughter. We no longer live in an age where we are required to butcher these animals for their fur. Ban fur farming before another 14 million minks are sent to their brutal deaths.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]
